Call Recording in Non-Samsung
In the previous video, we covered how to set up call recording on Samsung phones.
If you are watching this video, you are using a non-Samsung Android device such as Oppo, Realme, Vivo, Xiaomi, OnePlus, or another Android brand. Most of these phones use Google Dialer as the default calling app.
In this video, we will walk through the exact steps required to sync call recordings into telecrm on these devices. Follow the steps in order, and by the end, your call recordings will automatically attach to your leads inside telecrm.
1 — Why Google Dialer Alone Does Not Work
- Before starting the setup, it is important to understand one key point.
- Even if Google Dialer is already recording your calls, and you can see the recordings inside the app, telecrm still cannot sync them.
- This happens because Google Dialer restricts third-party apps from accessing its call recording files.
- This restriction is imposed by Google itself, not by telecrm.
- Because of this limitation, we need to switch to another dialer that allows access to recordings.
- The dialer app we will use is called Odialer.
2 — Check If Odialer Is Supported on Your Device
- First, check whether Odialer can be installed on your phone.
- Not all Android devices support this application.
- Open the Google Play Store and search for Odialer.
- If Odialer appears and shows an Install button, your phone supports it and you can continue with the next step.
- If Odialer does not appear or shows incompatible with your device, then call recording cannot be synced with telecrm on that phone.
- This is a device-level restriction, and unfortunately there is no workaround for this case.
3 — Install Odialer and Set It as Default
- If Odialer is available, go ahead and install the app.
- After installation, you must set Odialer as your default dialer.
- This step is mandatory because call recording will not work unless Odialer is the default calling app.
- When installing Odialer for the first time, your phone will usually prompt you to set it as the default dialer immediately.
- Simply confirm and proceed.
- If Odialer was already installed earlier and you skipped that step, you can set it manually by following these steps:
- Open Settings
- Tap Apps
- Go to Default Apps
- Select Phone
- Choose Odialer as the default dialer
4 — Enable Call Recording in Odialer
- Now we need to enable call recording inside Odialer.
- Open the Odialer app.
- Tap the three dots in the top-right corner and open Settings.
- Inside Settings, open Call Recording.
- Enable the option called Record All Calls.
- Once this setting is turned on, Odialer will automatically record every call made from your device.
5 — Make a Test Call
- This step is very important and should not be skipped.
- After enabling call recording, make at least one outgoing test call.
- This is required because Odialer only creates the recording folder after the first recorded call.
- Without this folder, telecrm will not have a location to sync recordings from.
- Make a quick call, allow it to connect, and then end it.
- After that, verify that the recording exists by opening:
- Odialer Settings
- Call Recording
- Storage Location
- The most common storage path used by Odialer is:
- Internal Storage → Music → Sound Recorder → Call Recorder
6 — Configure the Media Path in telecrm
- Now we need to tell telecrm where Odialer is saving the recordings.
- Open the telecrm mobile app.
- Go to the Main Menu.
- Tap Call Tracking.
- Inside it, open Media Path.
- Tap Select Folder and navigate to the folder where Odialer stores recordings.
- Typically, the path will be:
- Internal Storage → Sound Recorder → Call Recorder
- Once inside that folder, tap Use This Folder.
- Your phone will ask for permission to access the folder.
- Tap Allow to confirm.
- telecrm may now ask if you want to sync older calls.
- If you want past recordings attached to leads, tap Sync.
- Then select the duration for syncing older recordings.
- We recommend selecting 24 hours initially.
- telecrm will then process those calls and attach the recordings to the relevant leads.
- If you prefer to start fresh, simply tap Cancel, and only future calls will sync.
7 — Disable Wi-Fi Calling
- One common setting that breaks call recording sync is Wi-Fi Calling.
- If Wi-Fi Calling is enabled, recordings may not be created properly by your phone.
- To fix this:
- Open Phone Settings
- Search for Wi-Fi Calling
- Turn the feature OFF
- This ensures that all calls go through the SIM network and get recorded correctly.
Your non-Samsung Android phone is now fully configured to sync call recordings with TeleCRM using Odialer.
From this point onward:
- Every incoming call
- Every outgoing call
will be recorded by Odialer and automatically attached to the corresponding lead inside telecrm
This gives you and your team complete visibility into every sales conversation.
If recordings are still not syncing after following these steps, please contact telecrm support and our team will assist you.
In the next video, we will cover the setup process for devices using an OEM dialer.
