WhatsApp Cloud API
Introduction & Pre-Requisites
Every day, leads are coming in from multiple sources.
And the first thing every lead expects?
A quick response. A professional welcome. And a reason to trust your business.
But here's the reality — your team can't manually message every single lead, reply to every response, and follow up on every conversation.
So what if your WhatsApp did all of that — automatically?
With WhatsApp Cloud API in telecrm, the moment a lead comes in, they receive a professional welcome message, complete with media attachments showcasing your services. And within that same message, they get button options to interact with you instantly.
When they click a button? An automated chatbot kicks in — answering their queries, guiding them through your offerings, and capturing their responses — all without a single manual reply from your team.
Have an old database you want to re-engage? Send a bulk broadcast for your latest offer, festive promotion, or new product launch — to thousands of contacts in one go.
Want to qualify your leads automatically? Set up pre-defined questions — multiple choice or one-liners — and let WhatsApp collect the answers and feed them directly into telecrm.
Before we jump into the setup, in this video, we'll walk you through the Prerequisites of WhatsApp Cloud API so you are fully prepared before getting started.
Let's get into it.
Pre-Requisites
To ensure a smooth and hassle-free setup of the WhatsApp Cloud API, make sure the following are in place before you begin.
1. Meta Business Manager Account
You need an active Meta Business Manager Account with admin access.
One important thing to check — the website linked to your Meta Business Portfolio must be valid and HTTPS-enabled. If you need to update your website, do it in advance and allow up to 24 hours for the changes to reflect.
2. Live Website
Your business must have a live, working website that meets the following criteria —
- It must have an HTTPS connection — not just HTTP
- Your business name must be clearly visible on the website
- It must have a dedicated Privacy Policy page
- It must have a dedicated Terms and Conditions page
All four of these are non-negotiable for the API setup to go through successfully.
3. Business Details
- For Indian Businesses — Keep your GST details ready. This is mandatory.
- For Non-Indian Businesses — Have your equivalent business registration documents or address proof ready as required by your country.
4. Phone Number
You will need a phone number that is not currently linked to any active WhatsApp account.
Here's how to quickly check —
- Save the number on your phone and see if a WhatsApp icon appears next to it. If it doesn't — the number is free to use.
- If the number appears in any WhatsApp chat — tap on it. If it shows "Copy Phone Number Only," — no WhatsApp account exists. But if it shows "Chat with this Number," — an active account exists and needs to be deleted first.
- You must also have OTP access to this number — either via SMS or a phone call — for verification during setup.
How to Delete an Existing WhatsApp Account — Open WhatsApp → Click the 3 dots at the top right → Go to Settings → Click Account → Click Delete Account.
Once deleted, your number is ready to be used for the WhatsApp Cloud API.
5. Payment Method
Keep a VISA or Mastercard Credit or Debit Card ready — with international payments enabled. This will be used for WhatsApp Cloud API billing.
And those are all the prerequisites you need to have in place before setting up the WhatsApp Cloud API in telecrm.
Think of this as your setup checklist — get all five things ready, and the actual configuration becomes smooth, fast, and error-free.
