Pre-Requisites: Meta CAPI

Before we jump into the actual configuration of Meta Conversions API in telecrm — let's take a moment to make sure everything is in place.

Think of this as your setup checklist. Getting these prerequisites right from the start means the configuration goes smoothly — no errors, no back and forth, no wasted time.

There are 3 key things you need to have ready before you begin. Let's go through them one by one.

PRE-REQUISITES

1. Dataset ID and Access Token from Meta — If you do not have these yet, you will need admin access to your Meta Business Manager account to create them.

How to Create Your Dataset ID and Access Token

1. Open a new browser tab and go to adsmanager.facebook.com.

2. From the side navigation bar — click on Events Manager.

3. Click on Datasets.

4. Click on the Connect a Data option.

5. A "Connect a new data source" dialog box will appear. Select CRM and click Next.

6. Scroll down and either select an existing Dataset or click on Create a New one if you are starting fresh.

7. Scroll back up and click on Connect Manually.

8. Select "Do the code manually yourself" and click Next.

9. You will be redirected to a new page. Scroll down to the Create Endpoint section.

10. Click on Generate Access Token.

11. Your Access Token will be generated, and your Dataset ID will be visible on the same page. Copy and store both securely — Meta will not show the Access Token again once you leave this page.

2. Your telecrm account with admin or integration access — so you can create the API Template and connect it to your workflows.

How to Verify Your API Template Access in telecrm

1. Open the telecrm web app and navigate to Settings.

2. Click on Permission Templates.

3. Click on the Edit icon for the Default Admin User permission template.

4. Click on Automations and then select API Templates.

5. Cross-check whether the View and Edit access is enabled. If it is not enabled, turn it on and click Save. This ensures you have full access to create and manage API Templates for the CAPI setup.

3. A Facebook Lead ID field set up in telecrm — this is the key that links your telecrm leads to Meta's records. Without this, the two systems cannot communicate correctly.

How to Create the Facebook Lead ID Field in telecrm

1. Open the telecrm web app and click on Settings.

2. Click on Lead Fields.

3. Click on Add a New Field at the top right corner.

4. Give this field the name "Facebook Lead ID." Set the field type as Text — since the value stored will be alphanumeric. Click Save.

Your Facebook Lead ID field is now ready to be mapped to your Facebook integration in telecrm.

And here is your quick go-live checklist to refer back to at any point during the setup —

✅ Dataset ID created on Meta

✅ Access Token generated on Meta

✅ API Endpoint URL copied and stored securely

 ✅ telecrm API Template created

✅ Access Token added in telecrm API Template

✅ Payload format added correctly in the Body tab
