Owner Specific Assignment
What if your Excel sheet already knows who should handle each lead? In many businesses, the imported data already carries the name of the assigned salesperson for each lead, right into the sheet. But what needs to be avoided is - distributing leads randomly and causing team members to lose track of leads they were already nurturing — disrupting the entire ownership sales process that was already Work in Progress.
With telecrm's Owner-Specific Lead Assignment feature, that changes. telecrm reads your existing assignee column and automatically routes each lead to their rightful owner — no random distribution, no ownership conflicts, and no lost context.

Steps for Setting Up Owner-Specific Lead Assignment
Step 1. For this example, we have a sample Excel sheet called "Education Data" that we'll be working with.
Step 2. Our goal is to assign leads based on the existing Sales Person's Name column — so that each lead is automatically routed to its designated owner.
Step 3. ⚠️ Important: The Sales Person's column in your Excel sheet must contain the Email ID of each salesperson — not just their name. This email ID must exactly match the one registered for that user in telecrm. Even a small mismatch will result in incomplete or incorrect assignee mapping.
How to cross-check this? Navigate to Settings → Users, search for the salesperson's name, and confirm their registered email ID. If a salesperson hasn't been added to the workspace yet, you'll need to add them as a user first before proceeding with the owner-specific distribution.
Step 4. For this dataset, we have 2 salespeople as lead owners — Aryan Chaudhary and Danish. With everything verified, let's move ahead with the upload.
Step 5. Navigate to Add Leads in telecrm and click on Add From Excel.
Step 6. Select the Education Data Excel file from your system and upload it.
Step 7. Proceed to the Lead Field Mapping page and map all the relevant columns to their corresponding telecrm fields.
Step 8. ⚠️ Crucial Step: Make sure the Sales Person's column from your Excel sheet is mapped to the Assignee field in telecrm. This is the key mapping that enables the entire owner-specific distribution — do not skip this step.
Step 9. Click Next to proceed.
Step 10. Allow the system to complete its duplicate check and click Continue once done.
Step 11. Select the appropriate Campaign option — either create a new campaign or use an existing one, based on your requirement.
Step 12. Your Excel dataset is now successfully uploaded and ready to be viewed on the Campaigns Page under "Education Data."
Step 13. As you can see — the 2 leads belonging to Aryan are correctly assigned to Aryan Chaudhary, and the remaining 3 leads are accurately assigned to Danish — exactly as defined in the original Excel sheet. No manual reassignment. No guesswork. Just perfect ownership, right from the start.
